In 1963, several visionary New Yorkers associated with the United Nations recognized the need for creating a playgroup in which to bring together culturally diverse young children in the heart of our city. It is out of that insight that The International Preschools saw its beginning.
We are delighted to report that IPS has continued to mature gracefully, securing its reputation as a first-rate institution. As the school has grown over the last four decades, adding new locations (most recently our West 76th Street location) and more students, it has garnered wisdom, reflected by the years of experience of its dedicated faculty. IPS has, nonetheless, remained youthful and forward-looking in its approach to education, continually assessing the needs of preschool children in today's world while holding to its commitment of offering a quality preschool experience in which children learn and thrive.
You can get an idea of the wonderful opportunities for learning and sharing at IPS by looking at our Calendar, News & Events, Publications and Parents' Association.
IPS is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is licensed by the New York City Department of Health; and is a member of the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY), the Parents League and the Educational Records Bureau.
In 1998 the school was granted its charter as a non-profit educational organization by the Board of Regents of The New York State Department of Education.
