Dear IPS Families and Friends,
It is with great sadness that I inform you that we are canceling our Annual Benefit, scheduled for April 24, 2020. With the uncertainty that the current coronavirus brings and the need to give The Yale Club notice, this decision had to be made now. I was so looking forward to dressing in 1960’s style and enjoying your great company as we came together to support and celebrate IPS.
The Annual Benefit is our biggest fundraising activity each year. We raise money from our ticket sales, sponsorships, our auction, and pledges from families. We count on what we raise at the benefit to support many of the programs that make IPS special.
Tuition covers the “operating” costs of the school. Donations and fundraising events are what fuel the ability of IPS to grow programmatically and develop activities like the iPad program, Cubetto programing, field trips and in-school performances. In addition, each year IPS gives 5% of our operating budget in financial aid to our families. Helping families in this way is a crucial part of our mission and the goals that define us; this aid promotes economic diversity, which is so important to our school community.
While our decision to cancel the Annual Benefit is a wise and necessary one, we ask for support to help generate the fundraising dollars that we rely on each year from this event.
For those of you who already have purchased tickets, we ask that you consider this a donation to the school and we will provide you with a letter to that effect for tax purposes. Also, if you had planned to purchase tickets and would like to consider making a donation in lieu of purchasing tickets, or to help defray the costs IPS has incurred in connection with cancelling the Annual Benefit, please do so HERE.
In addition, our Benefit Committee is working through the details of a very fun, safe way for all of us to participate in an online auction of the great items we have been collecting this year and to enable pledging. You will be receiving information in April about how you can get involved in our virtual fundraising event!
Thank you so much, as always, for your love and support of our school and the IPS community. I am heartbroken by the impact the coronavirus is having globally and locally. We look forward to a time, hopefully soon, when this crisis will be behind us.
