On Monday, September 16th, the after school programs at The International Preschools welcomed excited children into a variety of engaging classes. Enrolling your child in after school programs allows him/her to make new friends, practice transitioning between classes, and most of all, learn a new skill while having fun!
If you haven’t signed up already, there’s still time to join us! Read on to see what we offer, why you should register your child for one (or more) of the classes, and finally, how to enroll!
Sports: This year, IPS is providing several sports-based programs at both of our locations. Sports classes are a wonderful way for children to strengthen their gross motor skills, hand/eye coordination, and regulate their bodies via exercise. C.A.T.S. Tennis and Super Soccer Stars, longtime partners of IPS, are providing tennis and soccer classes respectively. West Side Hoops will bring their popular basketball class to 76th and 86th Street via an IPS parent! Our very own Mr. Doug is teaching Chibikko Karate at both locations as well. There’s a little something for everyone!
Math/Science/Sensory: Cooking allows for children to practice their math and science skills via measuring, problem solving, and prediction, among others. TasteBuds Kitchen supplies our students with a fun, easy-going cooking class that allows for the children to come home with a finished product: food! STEM Robotics and Science by NORY immerses the students in science, technology, engineering, and math by working on projects that incorporate these subjects. To delve into your artistic side while stimulating your senses, 76th Street’s Ms. Dalia and 86th Street’s Ms. Deb have implemented after school Clay Art classes. Here, children will pound, roll, smooth, and formulate the clay, creating amazing end results to take home and enjoy for years to come! Finally, Chess returns to IPS to teach children about how to think strategically and how to analyze situations; these skills are presented in a child-friendly game format.
Music/Performance: TADA! Theater (86th Street only for Fall 2019) is where students will learn songs, movements, and dances, culminating in a performance at the end of the session in December! TADA! is a great way for children to increase their comfort when talking or performing in front of a group. For those children wanting an extra music class, Mr. Doug Music Academy (via IPS’ Mr. Doug!) will give children a specialized experience into the music world.
