Celebrating the Spring Benefit at The International Preschools

Every spring, The International Preschools hosts a Spring Benefit here in New York City. Faculty, administration, current and former IPS parents, and friends gather to support our school in a variety of ways.

Each year, the benefit has a special theme, usually with a multicultural motif.  Cuisine, clothing, and music at the event represent the chosen theme (much like the teachers facilitate with each month’s classroom subjects!). During the first part of the evening, the IPS community enjoys great food and drink and mingle with each other.

Later in the evening, the faculty and staff members who are celebrating a “milestone year” are honored with a special recognition. Milestone recipients are those staff members who have completed five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five, or more years of service at The International Preschools. This year’s milestone recipients are:  Maura Baritot-Finnerty, Karen Chaitram, Elena Clarke-Balasa, Robyn Clery,  Susan Ehrlich, Jenna Forsthuber, Mona Green, Colleen Krowl, Marlene Landon, Astrid Moises, Victor Perez, Habib Rahman, Bernadette Schwartz, Eira Toral-Sukhra, and Jacqueline Vaida.

Throughout the evening, guests are invited to bid in a silent auction for a variety of  donated prizes, including memorabilia, apparel, tickets to shows or sporting events, gym memberships and class passes, and more. Larger items, including vacations, are available for bidding during our live auction.

Students and teachers also contribute to the Spring Benefit. Each classroom donates a project created by its students to auction off. Literacy unit journals, created collaboratively in the Green (3s), Pre-K (4s), and Junior K (4s/5s) classes, are also available for bidding (and are quite popular!). Also high in demand?  The beloved “teacher play dates” that are available at each IPS location! Teachers offer their time after school one day to host a pajama party, movie night, or other fun event for parents to acquire for their lucky children.

This year’s Spring Benefit, entitled “The Red Lantern Gala,” will take place at The Yale Club on Friday, April 28th from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. We hope that you will join us!
