76th Street – Red 1
Ms. Maggy began teaching at The International Preschools in 2015.  She has an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Borough of Manhattan Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from City College, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from City College. Ms. Maggy was born and raised in New York City, but her parents are from Puerto Rico.  She grew up in Spanish Harlem and is fluent in Spanish. She not only enjoys teaching young children, but learning from them as well. Ms. Maggy loves the community and the diversity The International Preschools has to offer. She looks forward every day to working and playing with the children.

Ms. Kimmi
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2018.  She is earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood at City College. Before coming to IPS, Ms. Kimmi worked with children for many years in different settings.  She loves seeing children grow and adjust to school life. Ms. Kimmi is excited to be a part of her students’ first school experience!

Ms. Millie 
began working at The International Preschools in 2019. She comes with over 10 years of experience working with children. Ms. Millie is originally from the Dominican Republic and is bilingual (Spanish and English). She is currently pursuing her Early Childhood Education degree. Ms. Millie is very passionate about teaching and learning from young children. She is very excited to be part of the diverse community at IPS!

Ms. Colleen
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2011. She earned a Master of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College with dual certification in Special Education and Early Childhood Education and she is New York State certified. Working with young children and their families for over 15 years, Ms. Colleen knows how special this age group is. Each year, she works to learn something from her students that she did not know before.

Ms. Yari
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2017. She came to IPS with over 10 years of experience working with children and was previously a Creative Movement teacher for several years at a preschool in Westchester County, New York. Ms. Yari is originally from the Dominican Republic and is bilingual in Spanish and English. She is passionate about working with children and loves learning from her students each day.

Ms. Gillian
 taught Pre-K at The International Preschools from 2012-2016 and returned to the school in 2018. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz and earned a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College. She is a New York State certified teacher. She has also taught threes and Kindergarten at Horace Mann, Dalton and Columbia Grammar. Born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in upstate New York, Ms. Gillian comes from a family of teachers. She is passionate about teaching and working with young children, learning as much from them as they are learning from her.

Ms. Heidy began teaching at The International Preschools in 2017. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and received a teaching assistant certification from SUNY Armory Foundation. Ms. Heidy loves teaching, believing it’s the most rewarding job because she gets to witness many firsts and wonderful experiences for the children.
76th Street – Pre-K 1
Ms. Jamie
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2015. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia and earned both a Master of Science degree in Literacy Education and a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Hunter College and is New York state certified. In 2019, Ms. Jamie was awarded the Elizabeth Patrick Leadership Award. Ms. Jamie is a native New Yorker who has designed and taught both early childhood and elementary curricula. She is passionate about preschool education and literacy and she thinks she has the most fun job of anyone she knows!
76th Street – Pre-K 1
Ms. Dalia began teaching at The International Preschools in 2012. She is originally from Monterrey, Mexico. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics with a focus in Translation and is currently pursuing her second bachelor’s degree in studio art. She enjoys working with children and has previous experience working as a teacher in both an elementary and a preschool.

Ms. Emi 
began teaching at The International Preschools in 1999. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Marymount College and earned her Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College.  Ms. Emi is originally from Japan and came to New York City to study education. She has always been interested in American education with its emphasis on  multiculturalism. She is New York State certified in both General and Special Education in Early Childhood. In 2016, Ms. Emi was awarded the Elizabeth Patrick Leadership Award. Ms. Emi is motivated by the eagerness children bring to the classroom to learn. Each school year is filled with fun and excitement. Her two children are alumni of The International Preschools. She is also a dog lover and has two dogs.

Ms. Dara 
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2008. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Syracuse University and earned a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Long Island University/C.W. Post. Ms. Dara is originally from Long Island, NY. She loves working with young children because they are so open to the world.
76th Street – Pre-K 3
Mrs. Reisinger
began teaching at The International Preschools in 1986. She was born and educated in Budapest, Hungary. Mrs. Reisinger’s  greatest source of professional fulfillment is to see children thrive socially and academically during the year they are in her class.  Her daughter is an alumna of the school. Mrs. Reisinger is an avid ashtanga yoga practitioner who enjoys spending her free time with her family, hiking, and traveling to every corner of the world.

Ms. Chelsea
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2015. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from SUNY Oswego and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from City College. She was born and raised in Long Island, New York. Ms. Chelsea loves getting to know the children at school while helping them learn and grow.

Ms. Greene began teaching at The International Preschools in 2008. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood Education from Nyack College and earned a dual Master’s Degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from Touro College. Ms. Greene is a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child and every year she looks forward to working with the wonderful, diverse children at The International Preschools.

Ms. Vicky
began teaching at the International Preschools in 2018. Originally from Ecuador, Ms. Vicky is bilingual in Spanish and English. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from York College. Ms. Vicky has experience working with children in different settings and loves teaching children and learning from them!

Ms. Beth
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2017.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Food and Nutrition at State University of New York at Plattsburgh. While raising her two children, Ms. Beth worked caring for the elderly at an assisted living facility in Dallas, Texas.  Born and raised on Long Island, she is happy to be back in New York and looks forward each day to working and playing with the children and watching them achieve their first milestones.

Ms. Jerilyn
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2005. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Literacy from Fordham University and a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from New York University. She is certified in New York State. Before coming to IPS, Ms. Jerilyn taught hearing impaired  student with cochlear implants.

Ms. Joanne
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2018. She comes to IPS with several years of experience as an early childhood camp and preschool art teacher. She is extremely dedicated to the philosophy of learning through play and enjoys singing and creating art with the children.

Ms. Caroline
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2018. She has a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. Ms. Caroline was born and raised in Iran and came to New York in 2010. Ms. Caroline is bilingual in Farsi and English. She has a 7 year old daughter and she loves to spend time with her family. She is attracted to the International Preschools play based learning philosophy and its international community. She loves working with children and enjoys sharing her interests in art, music and dancing with her students.

Ms. Jillian 
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2017. She has five years of teaching assistant volunteer experience on Staten Island and in Manhattan.

Ms. Grace
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2000. She earned her Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education at Adam Micklewica University in Poland and completed her Master in Early Childhood Education at City University of New York. She takes into account the interests and strengths of each individual student which is so important for toddlers learning to socialize and become life-long learners.

Ms. Rumana
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2015.  She was born and raised in Bangladesh. After graduating from high school and intermediate college in Art in Bangladesh, Ms. Rumana moved to the United States in 2009 and received a high school equivalency diploma in the United States. She also completed courses in ESL and Computer Accounting at the Metropolitan Learning Institute, NY. She is currently attending college earning a degree in Early Childhood Education. She enjoys working with the children and hopes to make it a lifelong career.

SONY DSCMs. Landon 
began teaching at The International Preschools in 1986. She earned her Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College. Ms Landon is is an alumna of the Rockland County and New York City public school systems. Her grandson is an alumnus of the West 76th Street location.

Karen RosenthalMs. Karen
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2002. She is a native New Yorker and received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Syracuse University and her Masters in Education from Fordham University. Ms. Karen is New York State Certified in regular and Special Education nursery through sixth grade. She previously taught in the Pre-K and Green Rooms for 8 years as well as science for four years. Karen worked as the Development Associate from 2014-2016 and has been in the Green Room for the past 3 years.

Ms. Lenka 
began teaching at the International Preschools in 2018. She comes from the Czech Republic where she graduated with an MS in Elementary Education with focus on Art. Ms. Lenka spent six years teaching preschool in New Jersey and Manhattan. For the past three years she has been also teaching Czech part-time at a Czech Kindergarten in Astoria, Queens. Ms. Lenka is fluent in English, Czech, German, and Russian. She has been living in Manhattan for the past 16 years and genuinely loves teaching and the look of excitement on children’s faces when they learn new things.

Ms. Jayney
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2014. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Hartford. Her passion for teaching came from her mother. Ms. Jayney is an avid photographer, an artist and she loves traveling. Her home away from home is Cape Town, South Africa. Her commitment  to young children is something that inspires her to be creative and caring every day.

Ms. Elena 
is originally from Vicenza, Italy. She began teaching at The International Preschools in 1997. She originally studied at the University of Padua. Ms. Elena earned a bachelors degree in Anthropology from Hunter College and a Master Degree in Early Childhood Education from Capella University. She loves bringing her international experience to the school.

SONY DSCMs. Karen 
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2011. She is originally from Trinidad and Tobago, where she oversaw a preschool. Ms. Karen received a certificate in Early Childhood Education from the University of the West Indies. She gets great satisfaction in working with preschool children of all ages and supporting their learning and development.

Ms. Babette 
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2000. She was born in Guadeloupe and grew up in Paris and attended the French College. Ms. Babette holds a certificate as a Child Development Associate and completed a reflective practitioner fellowship at MIT in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning. The diversity of The International Preschools is what drew her to the school with her commitment to working with families who are from a broad spectrum of cultures. Every year, she supports children at this beginning stage of school life to promote their confidence and excitement about learning.
86th Street – Pre-K All Day
Ms. Hande
 began teaching at The International Preschools in 2014. She received her M.S. degrees in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Long Island University and Touro College. She is a New York State certified teacher both in General and Special Education (Birth-2nd grade). Ms. Hande was born and raised in Turkey, where she studied and worked as an interpreter. She is fluent in English, Turkish and French. She truly enjoys being a part of the diverse IPS community. She is committed to providing a loving and nurturing learning environment for her students, knowing that children learn best when they feel safe and loved. She enjoys sharing her interests in animals, music, dancing and traveling with her students.

Ms. Eileen 
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2013. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Travel, Transportation and Tourism from Niagara Univerisity. Ms. Eileen is originally from Park Slope, Brooklyn. She is has a true passion for early childhood education where she can use her skills to help create an energetic, supportive, and nurturing environment.
86th Street – Pre-K All Day
Ms. Jaimee
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2014. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from St. John’s University.  She was born and raised in Miami. Ms. Jaimee loves working with children—before coming to IPS she worked at Super Soccer Stars. Working with children on their motor skills made her realize her passion to nurture children’s learning and growth.
86th Street – Jr. K All Day
Ms. Lucinda
 is a lifelong New Yorker. She is excited to enter her second year with the IPS community. In her previous experience as a teacher, she taught kindergarten at the Ascension School in upper Manhattan and the full day fours/fives program at the West Side YMCA Co-Op Nursery School. She received her undergraduate degree in Child and Family Studies from Stony Brook University and M.S. in Early Childhood Education from Lehman College. She has a 19 year old son who attends a special needs school in Long Island who has helped shape the teacher she is today. She loves to spend time with her family, read mysteries and travel when she has the opportunity. She is looking forward to a fantastic school year, this year working in the Junior K with Ms. Deb and Ms. Monika.

Ms. Deb began teaching at The International Preschools in 2010, but she originally came to the school as a parent in 2005. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University and studied Decorative Arts at Sotheby’s in London. She has a Master of Science degree from the University of California Los Angeles. She speaks French and Italian and enjoys watching her International Preschool alum sons play baseball and basketball. For Ms. Deb, teaching young children is as magical as it is enlightening.

Monika SzybistyMs. Monika
began teaching at The International Preschools in 2015. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies from SUNY Purchase College.  Originally from Poland, Ms. Monika has 12 years of experience working with children from birth to teenagers and has previously taught in two preschools in Westchester. She especially loves working with younger children because they are freshly discovering the world and she is fascinated with their curiosity when exploring.

Ms. Carol 
began teaching at The International Preschools in 1999. She is originally from the Caribbean island of Granada. She holds a certificate as a Child Development Associate. She loves working at The International Preschools because of the opportunities to meet wonderful families and nurture young minds.

began teaching at The International Preschools in 1991. She earned a Para-Educator Certificate from New York University. Ms. Judith is originally from Jamaica and is the proud mother of an International Preschool alumnus who now substitute teaches at the school. Judith especially enjoys the uniqueness of the school community and the diversity it has to offer.

Mr. Doug 
is the Music Teacher. He began teaching at The International Preschools in 2000. He earned his Associate of Arts degree in Music from County College of Morris. He actively seeks out musicians to participate in his music program to broaden children’s interests in composition, instruments and love of music. Each year, he looks forward to bringing his passion as a composer and experience as a performer to the classroom.

Ms. Mary is the Science Specialist. She returned to teaching at The International Preschools in 2014. She graduated from Oberlin College and is the author of two books, Let’s Play Science and The Scientific Kid. For many years, she taught a graduate level workshop, The Youngest Scientists: Hands on Adventures, at the Bank Street College of Education. She is dedicated to providing the groundwork for a life-long love of science. When she is not at The International Preschools, she is teaching and running workshops at both public and private schools across New York City.

Ms. Nikki 
is the Technology Specialist. She began teaching at The International Preschools in 2012. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development at Empire State University. Prior to joining The International Preschools, Ms. Nikki taught English for a year in Taiwan which inspired her to work in an international school community. Her goal is to introduce children to technology such as iPads and robots as tools to explore their imagination and independence.

Ms. Peggy
is the Creative Movement Specialist. She began teaching at The International Preschools in 1996. Ms. Peggy is a graduate of the Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) at the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center with advanced training in Laban Movement analysis, functional anatomy and kinesiology. She is also a certified Pilates instructor. Her goal is to encourage and guide each child through a process of self-discovery, to provide an opportunity to move freely while developing a love for dance and the language of movement.

Ms. Talcott is the Librarian. She began teaching at The International Preschools in 1990 and took a 2 year leave of absence to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer in Central Africa. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin Madison and a Master of Science from the Palmer School of Library Science at Long Island University. She has been a storyteller in Carl Schurz Park and in the public schools. Prior to teaching, Ms. Talcott worked in children’s literature publication. She believes the adage, “the right book, in the right hands, at the right time,” works wonders.

Donna Cohen – Director
Donna has been the Director of IPS for ten years. She began in the summer of 2010. Prior to coming to IPS, she was the founding Director of Claremont Children’s School (currently Montclare Children’s School) on the Upper West Side. She has also worked at Westend day School and The 92nd St. Y. She has been working in NYC with families and children for over thirty years!Donna holds two Master’s Degrees. An MS in School Psychology and an MA in Social Work. She is currently in a two year seminary program to become an interfaith minister.Donna grew up in NYC and has been living on the UWS for over fifty years. She has an almost thirty year old son who lives in London.Spending the majority of her time at IPS is joyous! She loves being a part of the warm, loving and diverse community!

Monique Tabbs – 86th Street Location Director
Monique started at IPS in 1988 as a classroom teacher, newly graduated from Hunter College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood. Ms. Tabbs also earned a Master’s of Science degree in Education, also at Hunter College and worked as a classroom teacher for 20 years. In 2008, Ms. Tabbs became a Location Director at the 35th Street location where she maintained meaningful and supportive relationships with the parents and children who were in her care.

In 2013, Ms. Tabbs was asked to become the Location Director of a new flagship school that IPS opened on 86th Street. Since coming to that location, Ms. Tabbs has been able to realize her dream; to create an environment for families that is welcoming, warm and inclusive. Ms. Tabbs is a recipient of a 30 year milestone from IPS and continues to oversee a happy, inviting haven for international children to learn, play, and grow.

Alyssa Wisoff – 76th Street Location Director
Alyssa began teaching at The International Preschools in 2012 and has been the 76th Street Location Director since 2018.  She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lafayette College, a Master of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling from New York University, and a Master of Science in Early Childhood General and Special Education from Hunter College.  Alyssa holds certifications in Early Childhood Education and Special Education (Early Childhood and Childhood). In 2017, Alyssa was awarded the Elizabeth Patrick Leadership Award. Prior to joining The International Preschools, she worked with children of all ages, ranging from preschool to high school.  Alyssa enjoys working in early childhood and she loves seeing the daily growth in the students.

Bernadette Schwartz – 86th Street Assistant Director
Bernadette was born and raised in France. She moved to New York in 1968 and came to IPS as a parent in 1976 when her son was 2 years old. She started teaching in 1981, teaching mostly Pre-Kindergarten for 30 years. In 2009, she became the Director at the IPS 74th Street location and transferred in 2013 to 86th Street as Assistant Director. Bernadette enjoys nature, reading, doing watercolor and photography. Most of all she loves being with children and is passionate about sharing with them a love of learning.

Christina Branton – 76th Street Assistant Director
Christina began working at The International Preschools in 2008 and has been the Assistant Location Director since 2018. She is New York State certified in elementary education (Pre-K-6) and received her Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Manhattanville College. Before becoming the assistant location director, Christina taught 3s, 4s and 5s and coordinated the after-school and summer programs. In addition to her responsibilities at 76th Street, she is the author of the IPS blog on the school’s website.  Christina loves working with young children and fostering their learning through creative play experiences.

Jaya Misra – 76th & 86th Street Developmental Specialist
86th Street Assistant Director
Jaya received her MSEd in Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College and an MFA in Poetry from Sarah Lawrence College. She is also New York State certified in Early Childhood General and Special Education. Prior to her current role, Jaya worked as a teacher of ages ranging from 2 to 5 years old. Jaya is grateful to have the opportunity to work with and help children of varying ages, needs, and interests.
Susan Ehrlich – 76th Street Admission Director
Susan began working at IPS 24 years ago, after both of her children graduated from IPS. She has a BA, an MS in Counseling, and an MBA degree. As Director of Admissions she is happy to meet prospective parents and children and share her fond experiences at IPS.
Martha Smeaton – 86th Street Admissions Director
Originally from Toronto, Canada, Martha joined the Admissions team in 1998. A wonderful strength of IPS is the community. As the Admissions Director for the East 86th Street School she always looks forward to meeting families, children and welcoming them into the preschool. Both of her children are IPS alumni.

Cathleen Vasserman – 76th & 86th Street Ongoing School Advisor
Cathleen has worked at IPS since September 2000.  As Ongoing Schools Advisor she works closely with Director Donna Cohen helping our families explore their options for private and public school kindergarten. She also serves as IPS Communications Coordinator and provides administrative support for IPS Admissions.  She was previously the Admissions Director of the 45th Street Location. She is a graduate of Barnard College and the mother of two IPS alums.
