The highlight of my summer as a child (and now, as a grown-up!) was/is spending as much time as possible in and around the water. As an adult, I became a Water Safety Instructor with the American Red Cross and learned how to teach children of all ages how to swim. Providing children with swim lessons is vital in order to promote a safe and comfortable relationship with the water.
As parents and caregivers, there are many simple things that we can do with babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and bigger kids to get them comfortable in and around the water. Summer camp at The International Preschools is midway through its second week, and so much fun is being had by our campers! During the summer season, IPS focuses on increasing physical activity in both a structured and non-structured manner via play-based learning. This, in turn, helps the children strengthen their gross motor skills and muscles, while allowing them to naturally regulate the energy in their bodies. Summer is only a few weeks away, and with it comes the start of IPS Summer Camp! Camp runs from Tuesday, June 11th through Friday, August 2nd. Our enrollment will close on Monday, May 20th, so if you haven’t signed up yet, there’s only a few days left to do so!
